The Joys of Teaching Writing

Yesterday was my last day of teaching as a graduate student. For my ENWR 110 class, Technology and Identities, my students created final projects that included everything from a tabloid news report (complete with re-enactment) to a video game that simulates Darwin’s theory of evolution. These students far exceeded my expectations—and my expectations of them are pretty high.

I am proud of the level of engagement as well as the degree of critique each presentation offered. My favorite by far, has to be the social networking site created by four of my students: http://uvaenwr.ning.com/. They created the site as a way of helping students make sense of the themed options available to them when registering for UVA’s first-year writing requirement, ENWR 110. Let me know what you think.
